The same virus infected my work computer yesterday! Somehow made it threw the cracks. Not at all happy or impressed. Thought this forum was a safer place to visit.

Actually Spybot search and destroy is one of the best out there. Free to individuals, charge for corporate.

Vipre is not a free program! It has been rated #1 by PC World a number of times. I used to have Norton, Vipre is much better in my opinion. Look it up before you call it out as no good!

That's the funny thing, I didn't click on a link at all. I clicked on a post in the Sportster section of the HD Forum.

When the post opened, the Open Cloud AV Malware popped up with the post. I wish I could remember the title of the post but I was distracted by the infection. I went back and looked later but I never found a post that looked like the one I opened.

That infection can be on your computer days before it actually
displays it's self. Hordes of people have contracted it and I doubt
you got it here. It just popped up at a random time. My son had
it on his home pc, imitates Microsoft windows to look legit.

I personally don't think you could just open a post here and get infected either, I have never seen that and I've been here since 2005, if so we'd have done had a ton of folks complaining right now especially since you don't remember the post you opened.

Also anytime you have a problem here like that make it a point if you can to give us all the details such as the post you opened that's very important. I use AVG and spybot plus defender, you have to be very careful when you click on any window that pops up period whether you are here a HDF or anywhere, I have had the same deal lately I do believe and it's been captured by my anti-virus. Yes a virus/malware/adware can be dormant as said above.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention, better safe than sorry any day.
