The following Sticky is posted in the upper part of this section and it explains it all to ya:
Sticky PROBLEMS VIEWING IMAGES OR PMs
Thanks! It would be nice if they would have properly explained this on the first pm that automatically get sent to new members. Instead it is in a sub forum under "forum issues..."
When you joined HD Forums you were required to read and agree to the HD Forums rules. The very last one, number 20, is in capitol letters to draw attention to it. Here it is:
20. NEW MEMBERS WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO PICTURES OR PMs UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN AN ACTIVE MEMBER FOR FIVE DAYS AND FIVE POSTS.

How did you miss that?
I'm just saying that maybe it's time to integrate it on the automatic pm, cause as it stand now there's plenty of people that miss that vital information on how to communicate to other forum members privately. The fact that this site have to have a sticky on how to gain access to private messaging shows how inefficient the current method is.
I have to disagree. We have 20 rules that are equally important. That's why we require new members to read them and then click on the box that indicates that they did indeed read them and agree to them. If you can't bother with that, then how do we determine which of the 20 rules are the most important and send them to you in an introductory email? You didn't bother reading the rules, why would you bother reading the email?

I will also have to disagree. . By placing a Sticky at the top of this section, Forum Issues, it shows that this site is trying to post info that will help people better understand some of the problems that they might be having here. If some fail to read and make use of those Stickies, than it's not the inefficiency of this site because they are dong their part to try and give answers to some of the problems that might exist here. Have a nice day.

I'm a senior moderator on another site, similar in size to HDF; 250,000+ members worldwide.
As do all such sites, we have rules, policies, and guidelines, which must be "Read and Agreed to" before becoming a member.
I assure everyone here, it doesn't matter where those rules and guidelines are posted, it doesn't matter how big the font, or how red the color, or how many times you have to check a checkbox and select "I have seen and read" those rules and guidelines, somebody will complain that they didn't see it.
I was brand new here too, not long ago, and I puttered around clicking on things and I really didn't have any problems figuring stuff out. Now, I realize, just because I didn't have a problem certainly doesn't mean that nobody will have a problem, but, honestly, you can lead a horse to water...
