Default Calling All Admins; Please Help Me With This..

Like many here, I have been a member here for some time and found the site to be very informative, helpful, friendly and fun. Until Lately.

To begin, I use my laptop/desktop very little anymore. Close to 95% of my activity on-line is done with my phone. That said, the operating system and fixes for common computer issues are not always the same for phones orother mobile devices.

Now, here is where my issue with this site has manifested. Earlier this year, I started getting occassional pop-up messages as I perused the pages of the forum. I did not have a major problem with this as I figured we do not pay for this site and the owners need to generate revenue. I know when using the desktop, I see adds on the sides of the page and they were not visible on my mobile device, so I figured the pop-ups is the choice they made. I accepted it.

Recently, the pop-ups have gotten so bad that every time I access a post or change to the next page, a new ad pops up. This has gotten beyond annoying.

Today, I decided to see how wide spread this was so I searched previous posts and sure enough, other had complained. Alot of others. There was also a STICKY posted in this section that said read this before posting another pop up thread. I read it. The fixes listed apply to home computers. In fact the problem mentioned peratins to home computers. It specifcally mentions hovering over key words to activate ads. (with the moblile device, we do not hover over anything; we simply open a page or refresh a page). I read through the pluthera of closed/locked threads where others had trouble. Many members commented that changing browsers helped them. Altering java settings helped some, adding ad blockers helped others. All of those options required me and others to make changes to our devices that affected how they opperate in every actions we make when the pop-up problem is only on your site. That seems ridiculous. Personally, I prefer the browser I use and do not wish to change and altering the Java settings impacted others apps on my phone.

What also seems ridiculous is the hard nosed actions by at least one over-zeolous admin by closing all of the threads without addressing a true cause and or fix to this problem. Java script in text advertising platform is present just about everywhere, but the pop-ups I exeperience in this forum do not occur outside of this forum. This means that this is not the problem. If it truely was, mobile users everywhere would be inundated with popups every time they accessed thier browsers.

Whys is there such a resistance to find and fix the problem that is plagueing the mobile users of this group?

I made a post asking for help, stating that I read the sticky and it does not apply. That post was locked and I was provided no feedback.

Is this really what the site has come to? The members mean nothing to you? I work in the technology field. I can tell you with full certainty that the wold is moving to mobile. Gone are the days where folks sit in front of a desktop computer for all of their activities. If you continue to disreagard those with mobile devices, you will loose them to sites that take care of thier needs.

As mentioned earlier, I enjoyed this site. I have been helped by numerous members as I made my bike my own and have helped others along the way. I have sought out and personally met members from this site in my adventures on the road. I have also recommended many to join here. I am really sorry that our concerns go unanswered when they conflict with the personal opinion of one or more moderators.

As much as I enjoyed this area, I am beyond fed up with the pop-ups that accompany every action. Since I rarley use my laptop, it appears that my presence here will become very limited and may end all together. This is, however, up to you, the ADMINS. Either fix the issue with your site and stop pushing the trouble onto the members to correct or deal with - or- give us real answers. Do not just lock threads; that is quite childish.

If you find that the members do not deserve help or answers then you may as well delete my account because this site has gotten to frustrating to use with my mobile device.

Sincerley,

Ryan

I haven't had the pop up problem recently, like I did a few months ago. I understand that advertising pays for the free site, but some pop-ups make the site unreadable. IBTL. There was a way to opt out of pop-ups and they have disappeared since I did that.

Don't be a b-bag. I use my phone at home too. And regardless of which device I use, this site should work. And as I mentioned if you read fully, I don't have a problem with ads or advertising to cover costs. But when the pop ups over power the ability to use the site, there is a problem.

It's up to you to find an ad blocker that works with your system. We can't cater to every single browser system out there. These ads pay the bills here, so it's actually counterproductive for us to remove them.
