It's usually always size. It can't be bigger than 500 by 250 pixels or 97.7 KB (whichever is smaller). One easy way to make a pic smaller is to open it in Windows Paint and resize it smaller.

yes, did that. Hit the upload button, hit all the buttons I see. When I look at the signature section in user cp the pic is there just doesn't show on posts.

yes that box is checked, I just double checked to be sure...
Do you see your pic when when you click see preview? Should look something like this below. I was thinking maybe you didn't click "insert signature picture". Also, your sig will not show in older posts if you had the show sig unchecked. So make sure you do a new test post in the testing area.
