rear caliper removal 91 softail?

Default rear caliper removal 91 softail?

I changed the front brake pads with no problem.I moved to the back and removed the two pins and thats where my problem starts.How can I get the calipers to slide off?Any help is much appreciated.

Did you pry the pads back to push to push the pistons back into their bore's first? You should do this to the inside pad first, then back off on the retainer screw half way, so only the inside pad falls out. Replace the inside pad, screw retainer pin back in, and pressure up to force pads back to rotor. After this, repeat procedure on outside pad, backing retainer pins all the way out. outside pad should drop, while new inside pad stays squeezed to the rotor. Put in new outside pad and tighten retainer pins. I pretty sure this is how the service manual for my Dyna has it laid out. Hope this helps.

Sorry I didn't read your post correctly........Your wanting to remove your caliper? I'm not sure on the softail, on my Dyna, I think you have to remove the axle to get the caliper off.

On a softtail,the caliper will neeed to come off.@ torx on my '93 ,I "think "10 0r 12 mm.Pins arent a problem .You will need to align the shims .Very easy...about 10 minutes.Same as jughugger.
