Removing cartridge style left fork?
So 2002 - 2005 touring bikes (except Road King) come with a cartridge left side fork. Am ordering Progressive suspensions drop in lowering front kit to lower the front end after installing a 21 inch wheel. Is it as simple as removing the cartridge and dropping in the new springs? OR do I have to get a conventional left fork before installing the drop springs?

Simple ... buy a Fork Tube, Damper Rod, and an Oil Lock Piece just like what's in the other side.
(possibly a Top-out spring depending on exactly what you trying to do and what aftermarket parts you want to use)
FWIW, Race Tech makes a Gold Valve/Emulator kit (also can perform lowering) to work with your existing parts.

As per multihdrdr above, although I suggest a Ricor Intiminator valves as an alternative. I haven't had any success with the Emulator, not happy with mine. There are also cartridge kits of various brands available, for a significant boost in ride and comfort - Ohlins FKC101 are wonderful!

The Progressive mono tubes come with everything you will need for the switch over. You will need to buy fork oil, the seals and the screw that goes in the bottom separately. Just follow the directions.
edit: If you are just replacing the springs I don’t know, I put the mono tubes in my bike last summer and it went smooth. Maybe call Progressive and ask them.

Now that Progressive lowering springs has been mentioned and all you want to do is Lower the bike as cheap as you can ...
Then Yes, Progressive does make a Drop-in Lowering Kit for that application. They just supply the parts for the Damper Rod side and instruct you to leave the Cartridge "As Is" ... $85 List
