Default Lowering Problem After Installing Progressive Lowering Kit

i'm 5-6 @ 215lbs with inseam of 29. i have a 07 Softail Standard where i just installed the Progressive Lowering Kit DS-305050 to the lowest possible setting - 2 inches. i can finally place both of my feet flat on the ground. when i first bought my softail, i was on the ***** of my feet which i didn't mind so much but there were times where i had to muscle the bike upright because of whacky traffic. the specs said that the seat height unloaded is at 28.3 inches and with a person with 185lbs sits at 26.1. the problem is with my weight where i bottom out and the ride becomes very uncomforable after a long ride with the Lowering Kit installed at -2". then i brought the lowering kit back up to its original stock height and i can still pretty much place my feet on the floor with my heel lifted just a quarter an inch. after bringing my bike up 2+", don't you think that i should be back on the ***** of my feet? what can be wrong? i don't really want to spend over $1Gs on an air suspension just yet.

You probably changed the pre-load while installing the lowering kit.Not aproblem at all really in fact it will make the ride a little softer with the pre-load set at alower setting (if you don't lower it too much). With the pre-load lower it allows the bike to drop more when you sit on it before the springs actually compress enough to hold your weight. That's why you can reach easier now and the bike sits the same without you on it.If you want to lower it againtry lowering the bike some and stiffening the pre-load, that will help keep you from hitting the bump stop when you go over bumps and help stop those bone jarring problems.I have a similar set up on my bike as well and the lower you go with these set ups the rougher the ride will become. It's the nature of the beast unfortunately.A good air ride system will eliminate these problems but as you know they ain't cheap.
