Speech to text didn't get all the info. I'll try again.
he got an 08 softail deluxe, new to him. Bike was laid down from prior owner and it seems the engine guards, saddle bags and handle bars took most of the damage.
a local shop said to try grinding the rough edges down so rotor didn't catch or hang up anywhere. Said there was plenty of meat on bracket and that it was only scraped not broken. Seemed a bit odd to me that's why i asked here.
bike only has 8k miles on it and was sitting for quite some. I'll have him order a new or good used bracket to be safe. Appreciate your time and help.
I live in the UK but am a regular on US Ebay, for all manner of things! By all means price a new one, but take some time to check out Ebay for secondhand ones first. HDF also has a Marketplace, where you may find something useful. I've bought similar things for Touring models, including brake calipers and a similar style of rear caliper mount. If you haven't found Ronnies yet, you can identify part numbers on-line here:

If the local shop had it in their hands when they said it ... that's worth something
That bracket might just "look" worse than it really is ... like a small cut that bleeds everywhere ... Stuff is "saved" all the time stuff that would appear "Bad" in a picture viewed by just Non-Mechanics / Fabricators
With that said ... I would probably say that if you have to ask, then you should get another bracket ... that bracket is only $68 List (or less? used)
