I’m going for a chopper-inspired look on my 2014 Wide Glide, but I don’t want to fully cut and weld the frame. My plan is to run a 4° rake kit with longer forks. I’ve seen plenty of kits online, but none list my bike as a fit. After doing some digging (and calling Harley), it turns out they do fit since most Dyna models share the same main components.
My question is — if I rake it out to 39° with a kit, is it still going to be safe to ride?
will it be safe???
only you can determine that.
anytime you alter rake and trail there can be issues. depending upon what is done you can get induce movement, pogo and poor handling. i have seen some with stall speed so bad, they have to almost walk it in a slow turn.
there is a mathematical science to it. but remember this is not a cooky cutter thing.
reminds me of a friend who put a service car tranny on his pan. he also had a large metal horse mounted on the front fender, cowboy you know. so when asked about the tranny all he would say is you must be awful selective when you are drunk!

is it going to ride as if I were to chop it? Obviously with little longer forks
where it really gets fun is when you are using a springer front end. had a friend who did an extreme and it did ride nice and looked good, UNTIL:
you hit something in the road at speed, it would go into a frenzy and you had to slow down under 40 to regain control. for that reason, he avoided the interstates. but then again, riding two lane back roads is more enjoyable.
