I installed new PM 6 piston front brakes on my FLHX. One side is fine. The other bleeder valve leaks a little fluid no matter what I do.
I tightened it down, then I got a new valve frm my chopper build and that leaks as well. Then I wrapped the SOB with teflon tape and it still leaks.
A little hard to blame the valve at this point. Sould I return the whole unit to PM ? I have had bad luck with that company and will not buy anymore of their overpriced, delayed shipping stuff anymore. Has anyone tried the speed bleeder system?
If PM won't take them back (I think they should). Look for a nick or burr on the tappered seat that the bleeder sits on (assuming the threads are ok like chief said). Try putting some lapping compound on the bleed screw and work it until the seat looks shiny, then clean it all up and put a new bleed screw in there. That might get it working.
Go to a diesel injection shop and ask for a copper or soft aluminum gasket for the end of this - (holding a bleeder screw in your hand). Those little ring gaskets are used in high pressure situations and work super for what your problem is....
I would call or email PM. When installinga bleeder valve have to be careful not to over tighten or will strip threads. Speed bleeders come with a heavy thread sealant and work well, but might fail on you after time.
