I redoing my shovel again, the BIG QUESTION is....
Can you sandblast chrome off of parts, Rims for instance..
Can you powdercoat over chrome???
Thanx 4 your help with this
Jeff
Jeff, You actually do not need to remove the chrome in order to powder coat. It needs to be sand blasted to give the part some profile for the powder to stick to. We sandblast chrome parts all the time for coating..Now if the chrone is flaking off, that will have to be ground or sanded off. Loose is no good! Right now we are PC'ing some chrome parts for our own bike (2000 Ultra) that have not been blasted. Transparent black over chrome. Looks real nice when done. Bike will be a real head turner when done. BUT, we have only a vague idea as to how the PC will wear because it wasn't blasted first. Blasting is not the only step in prepping for PC. We chemically treat and pre=bake parts for lasting finshs and to date, we have had no returns in 7 years!!!!
