Default Steering head ajustment 07 flstf

hi guys quick question here. I have a 2007 fat boy, I have a front end shake at 40 mph off throttle. I checked my fall away and the front end has way to much play. Does anyone know to to tighten the neck bearings and were the ajustment nut is. the manual doesnt show me a digram just explanes the fallaway test,

Thanks

Do you have a service manual for your bike or are you referring to the owner's manual? If it is the later, then you should consider forking out the cash for the service manual as it includes photos for most procedures and exploded diagrams for each part of your bike. Sorry if this is obvious info.

Not sure if this helps but...

I have a 2008 X-Bones (springer front end) and I have to adjust mine every 2500 miles per the owner's manual. It is actually pretty easy, and from what I can tell the process is pretty similar for a non-springer front end. I say this based on a procedure demonstrated on the Fix My Hog Softail series of DVD's which shows it done on a non-springer bike and it looks identical to what I do for my springer. Basically, there is a large scorn nut (5/8ths) on my upper triple tree where my risers are that is nothing more than a "cap" (I say this based on the very low torque setting of this nut) which holds a rubber sealing washer under which is my adjustment nut. I simply remove the rubber washer to expose the adjustment nut and tighten or loosen this "hidden nut" based on what I need. In your case, you would want to tighten it if you think your forks are too loose. I make small adjustments at a time until I reach the desired fall-off and then I replace the rubber washer and acorn nut and tighten to the correct specs.

I hope this at least helps any.

Good luck and ride safe.
