Get in touch with Howard @ Motorcycle Metal, a forum sponsor, he can give you all the info you want on the Ohlins. He is very easy to work with.

I am in the process of ordering a set of #3 from Howard at MM. #2 are emulsion type (gas and oil mixed), #3 are gas separated from the oil and Howard tells me give a superior ride. I want improved ride for me and improved comfort for my wife when we ride together. Motorcycle Metal are a HDF sponsor (scroll down to find a link to the website) and offers a discount to HDF members.

I guess #3 are worth the extra for improved quality of ride, but talk things through with Howard. He will advise you and set your shocks up for your riding.
