Default 1997 Fat Boy forks.

Whilst this may sound like sacrilege to some of you, I can't stand the chrome fork casings on this FB that I may be buying.

Can they be stripped off and is what is underneath good looking enough to view?

Thanks!
Gavin

What do you mean by 'casings'? Guessing you mean the fork shrouds bolted to the bottom tree, if you remove them you get to see the tops of the sliders and the tubes. You could simply refinish them, replace with painted ones, or swap them with a chrome lover!

If you are talking about the fork "legs" where your calipers are mounted then you will need a chrome plating shop to strip the chrome off using nitric acid. The forks will not look nice after stripping. You would then probably want to have them powder coated. Might be easier to try and fine a used stock set in good condition.
