I’ve been a fan of the Dyna for many years, own a couple Super Glide’s and have always considered the FXR as it’s “godfather” of sorts.
One version of the FXR I found is an ‘86 Warbird that was offered by Corbin. It’s a one owner, low mileage all original bike with no mods to the Evo.
Another bike in the picture is an ‘01 FXDX-T. These two models are bikes I’d NEVER part with. Given the amount produced, popularity, and overall availability…which model would be a good “investment”? (A deal that shouldn’t be passed up.)

Isn't (wasn't) the Warbird just a Corbin "body kit" that bolted onto any FXR of that era? (And between the two, the FXR is the more collectible anyway (IMO.)
Big fan of the FXR here,rode one for a decade and well over 100K miles and loved it.
Wasn't great two up so I bought a used '89 Ultra Electra Glide for that duty and touring but kept the FXR,after a few years I traded in the Ultra on a new 2000 TC88 Electra and still kept the FXR.
A couple years later and tired of making payments I sold the beloved FXR to pay off the Electra.
I always regretted that move,fast forward almost 20 years and another new M8 Electra Glide but I still missed that FXR,last Year I bought a running FXR in need of some TLC and I'm in the process of a full on strip to the bare frame resto-mod as I never got over missing that first one.
Love the new Electra but it's no FXR so I learned the hard way I must have at least two bikes.

From the stories and info I’ve gathered, you are correct. A package from Corbin, seat, fairing, chin spoiler, tail section, etc. The name “Warbird” was a tribute to old fighter planes like the Mustang and Corsair.
'85 FXRS rider here...I remember when that Corbin "Warbird" conversion kit hit the market. Some folks did a nice job painting it up to recall WWII fighters. Lots of fun I suppose, but IMHO...doesn't add much to the inherent value our FXR's already have.
Thank God the days of molesting an FXR are over. I can't possibly see how that Warbird kit could be of any value. That would be a nice project bike to unscrew.
Most of the FXR builds today are practical and clean.
As far as investment value, I don't believe either will have a high investment value. I have a 1999 Blue Flame FXR3. One of 300 made. I bought it for $10,000 with 4054 original miles. The NADA value is a bit over $13,000. It would take a stupid amount of money to get me to part with it. The problem with the Warbird bike is the same as with my FXR3. People look at it and have no idea what it is. Therefore don't have a lot of interest in it. I bought it to ride, and have put 3,500 miles on it in the last two summers when not hauling the wife on my other bike. If you like either for whatever reason, buy it and ride it. Don't buy one for investment, it will sit because once they get a lot of miles on them the value drops. Good luck on whatever you decide.
