I have not problem pulling over to avoid stuff like that. I also pull over if I'm on a two lane road just easy riding and have a car come up behind me. I just slow, pull to the edge of the road and wave them on.
Never !. When I see junk...Just watch where they're going. I either wait 10-15 minutes or go a different route. Peace of Mind.
As for semi's on the 4 lane highway, I tend to stay away from them as far as possible cuz anything could happen in an instant. If I ever pass a slow moving semi...I stay on the very far left (White Stripe Hugger) with a prayer that nothing happens to me.
A few years ago, My friend was driving in a extended cab pickup truck with his wife and toddler boy sitting middle in the back behind a dump truck probably 3 or 4 lengths of a car. A loose stone approx. 4" x 4" x 4" flew right off the dump truck, bounced off the pavement several times and aimed for the truck's grille/radiator. Luckily, The stone wasn't at a higher position which would have killed the boy (My god son, Ben). However, The stone rammed and pierced in the radiator causing antifreeze and other components of the truck flying in every direction. Just so stunned that a loud bang scared the **** out of them. Friend showed me the repair bill...Almost $3,500 !.
