No one at the dealer is going to do anything for you if you do not walk in along with your pocket full of cash.
I do not care how much the shake your hand and slap you on the back. If you lose your job and need a new back tire do you think they are gonna say “hey, you are a great & loyal customer here’s one on the house. . .” ?
Um, no they are not.
I went into my local HD and showed them a list of about 10 places I can get at least 20% off plus NO sales tax and they said then do it.
This after I just dropped 20 grand.
I like the guys but I am loyal to my family & dear friends and my wallet. If I can keep my wallet a little fuller and still get the parts I need my dealer can screw over the guy that walks in the door after me.
If I were to buy another bike I would probably go back to my dealer... but as for picking up parts and junk here and there, it is whoever gives me the best deal.
I bought 2 motorcycles with in 2 years from Clayton County Harley in Atlanta and they have done nothing to show me any loyality since my purchase. One of their employees stole and used my credit card information. They low balled me when I wanted to trade with them. I was gonna finance one bike thru them and they were requiring me to buy the extended warranty. I found my financing elsewhere. I bought a brand new saddleman seat from them one day before I totalled a bike and they would not let me return it. They knew the bike was totalled because I towed it to them. They also charged me a 100.00 inspection fee for quoting the job on my totalled bike. Even when they knew I was gonna buy the replacement bike from them they made me pay that 100.00. I tried to stay loyal but the just wanted to make as much as they can off me. You ask how I know they low balled me, HD of Atlanta offered me 2000 more for my trade and the exact same selling price on a 2007 softail custom.

My local dealer runs 3 - week long Customer Appreciation weeks a year where they give us 20% off parts. No biggie. IF Im going to make a purchase and its close to one of those 3 times, Ill wait. But if its not I use Zanotti's or whoever gives me the best deal. And Ive told my dealer this and given them a chance to just match the 20% but they decline. But I give them the choice. I tell them I dont go to these people, the DEALER MAKES me go there.
My sole loyalty is to my own pocket. If the dealer gives me a good deal (read better than anyone else) then he gets my business. So far, he has been lacking. I found an indie that beats his prices and service every time. So, to the indie I go.
Hey EK5858........bought my 06 heratige at Clayton County....I'm ready for the 5000 mile check up......what do you think about the service dept.......My comments on their dept are questionable
Most dealers force you to use the 20% off internet stores. My dealer has acouple of 15% sales a year but if you ask them to order a big ticket item for 20% discount, they say no.They would rather make 0 profit on ordered parts than 20% off retail.A lot of money goes out the door because of this way of thinking.
