I love my dealer but still shop for parts.......but they don't care and do all the work correctly...like I said I love my dealer...they are straight up guys....period.
My dealer (Goe HD Buell in Angleton Tx) is very good. I'm a small business owner and try to keep the money local. When ever possible I shop with a locally owned murchant.
.......I am loyal to my family & dear friends and my wallet. If I can keep my wallet a little fuller and still get the parts I need my dealer can screw over the guy that walks in the door after me.
I second that motion! I'll have dealer loyalty, when the dealers show customer loyalty. They treat me right, they get my business. If I can get a better deal elsewhere though, that business gets my hard earned cash. End of story.

I had been pretty loyal to "America's oldest Harley dealer" until it was sold a few years ago to the current owners, then everything changed. All thepeople who worked there, except for some of the wrenches, were forced out;I mean longtime employees. Then, they had a succession of service managers, including some dude from an auto dealership who knew nothing about bikes. Service prices have steadilyincreased, of course. The sales manager has an attitude. I used to hang around, especially on Saturday mornings before I went riding. I stopped because it stopped being a fun place.
The dealer east of town that they have a relationship with is equally bad. That place offered me $11,500 for my bike intrade, then after I left the salesman called my cell and offered me a whopping $11,650. I went to the dealer northwest of town and got an offer of$12,300, which of course I took. This dealer is not bad, family-owned business, but it must be the only dealer in the country that doesn't give you a free t-shirt when you buy a new bike. Plus, they have no dyno.
The fourth area dealer, another family-owned place,is located southeast of town and is not bad.
For engine/trannyperformance work and dyno tuning using a SERT, I travel 50 minutes west to a fifth dealer, Mid-Ohio HD.
Loyalty? I am not against a business making a fair profit, but first I am loyal to my bank account. I am lucky, though, in that I have reasonable choices. I know some people are stuck with only one dealer, with the next closest being maybe hours away.
I would be loyal to the dealer I bought my bike from if they would lower their ridiculus prices!
Exactly.
My loyalty to my local dealer is to keep as much in my pocket as I can, so when it comes time to replace what I really want at the dealereship (a new bike), I will be able to do so.

Well my dealer just earned some kudo's. I went in their because I forgot to get a xmission side cover gasket to change the clutch cable and some trannie oil (I'm puttin' on some mini-apes). I had already paid with my debit and I remembered that I needed some grip glue to put the left grip back on. I didnt want to debit again and all I had was 2.50 in my pocket (yea I'm a PUB!) So he rang it up, and wouldn't ya know, I needed 4.19. Well he says how much do ya have, and I dug in my pocket and showed him, and he magicaly "discounted" it and off I went. it was just a little thing, but sometimes the little thingsmake a big difference.
Oh, and what a PITA those throttle/idle cable ties under the gas tank are to get out of the frame, I broke one, but it doesnt affect anything, so, oh well.
I try to be loyal to one dealer. The problem I have is that the dealer does not want to be loyal to me. I have 4 dealerships i can be at in a short time and 3 of them are so big they do not give a crap (LVHD) and the one in Kingman is far enough away that no one will go anywhere else. When I was blowing fuses the first thing out of his mouth was what did YOU do. Well my brother in laws SG which is 100% bone stock blows the same fuse.
When I needed my throttle cables adjusted properly... I told him if he has a tech that has a spare 2 minutes to do it Ill give him some money... (at least 10 bucks) more then generous in my opinion. He said....... My techs are busy..... no time for that.
I have my HD and my Bro in laws HD not to mention a couple dirt bikes and a RHino. I buy stiff allt he time. and NEVER get a good response from them. I really also try to buy locally in my parts department which for every $500 bucks I spend I get a 10% refund. My parts guys know my name, know what bikes I have, know what I do for a living. I could not ask for anything more. It makes you fel welcomed. ALthough they are more expensive then some online stores... I still like the guys and their integrity which his rare these days.
