Couldn't help checking out some of their posts. Gotta love this one...
"Since joining this website, I have learned about being a victim of "noise assault"."
I hope I'm not typing too loud for you guys.
Stop, my ears hurt.

It's already illegal to run a Non-EPA approved device... it is up to your state/local municipality to enforce it. They can bitch all they want, but the laws are already in place and have been for quite some time.
I like my neighbors, have an average sized wiener, so I typically putt down our road. When I hit the highway though, I let her rip. I didn't buy a Harley so it could sound like a stock Honda Shadow. I pass cars from time to time. I'm not sure how to do that without rapping the pipes as I go by. A couple weeks ago, I pulled into Starbucks, which is where bad asses hang out by the way, and I set off a Mexican's car alarm as I pulled up. He wasn't happy to have to come out of Subway and turn it off either. As I left, I set it off again and thought it was funny. If you're gonna have your alarm set so sensitive that noise will set it off, then you deserve to have to get up from stuffing your face with a $5 footlong and shut it off.
So yeah, I guess me and ol' tmanbuckhunter are the stereotype. Probably because we both ride EVO Dyna's, which sound waaaay better than the twin cams.
I have always loved the sound of a good sounding, moderately loud Harley. Reminds me of summertime at my parents house, lying in bed with my window open.
But, IMHO...short straight through pipes that rattle windows and hurt your eardrums are obnoxious, and rally the anti motorcycle clans. But again, as was said there are EPA ordinances if a town chooses to enforce them. My pipes ar not stock...but are not obnoxious...none the less I try to keep it down in residential and town areas. But not in underpasses!
However, you would think there are bigger issues for towns to address.
Come to think if it, the police chopper flew over my house last evening and woke me up. They need to turn down the noise.
It's not me, there are numerous blogs about the correlation of ***** size and loud exhaust..even a video.. Loud Pipes - YouTube
You are trolling, correct? "***** must be small" is one of the oldest, most BS excuses I've ever heard, it was worn out when Jesus was still trying to teach velociraptors how to roll over.
I come from the shooting world - I carry a gun for a living, not a cop - and I've heard that crap a time or two. You know what my favorite response is? "Darn right I'm compensating, I can't kill someone from 300 meters out with my ****"
It's a tired, worn out excuse that has lost any meaning, for those simple-minded enough to actually buy into it.
What bothers me the most is the freakin' train horn blasting 6 or 7 times a night at 2AM in the morning when there are no cars on the road. I think the operators do it on purpose because they feel that if they have to be up then everyone else should be too. There needs to be an ordinance that doesn't allow for train horn blasting after a certain time. That if 1 car on the road at 3AM can't see the orange and white striped gate with flashing red lights and "ding ding ding ding" bells then they aren't going to hear the damn train horn either.
Ditto That! Our office is located next to a railroad that has between 40 and 60 trains every day. If you are standing outside, you have to stop your conversation and cover your ears until the train moves through the intersection. We're an explosives company and we don't make as much noise as that damn train.
i'm convinced that everybody has a small *****. not that i care or even want to know. loud pipes? small *****. big truck? small *****. big wheels on your truck? small *****. big gun? small *****. loud stereo? small *****..... and on and on.

you, me and a lot of folks on this site. however, there are a lot of people out there who believe that if your bike can be heard from a foot away, then it is too loud. they may be unreasonable, but unfortunately, a lot of them have friends in high places.
