I envy the 82 and sunny. I went for a ride yesterday and it was 42 and cloudy-froze my n--tz off. Anyway congrats on the ride. Iron butt is right around the corner...

Congrats on the first real run. You'll get used to the speed eventually. (I remember when 5 mph in first seems like Warp Factor 10 to me...many, many moons ago now, but the feeling was still there when first learning to ride...) As a couple of others have recommended, if you're finding the wind troublesome at speed (no fun hanging on for dear life, IMHO...) invest in a good detachable windshield. You can put if on for highway runs, and pop it off, and store it in the garage for daily commuting. It's all good...
