Default 2 Bikes

Keep your Street Glide and once you have it paid off, get another bike to do weekend duty.
I did it the other way around and started with the Street Bob. After a bunch of 12 hour days on it and a lot of miles I had to get a real road bike.
I can do 12 hours plus on the Road Shark and still feel comfortable, which I can't do on the Street Bob. I love the feel of the wind against my chest pushing me back in the seat and just the sheer freedom of the Dyna
but my old bones can't do those long days on those wheels anymore.

My 1999 FXR2 was a limited production run of 900 FXR2 and 900 FXR3 models of the no longer produced FXR series of Harley bikes. Some will argue the FXR models were the best Harley ever built. These 1999 models were the first CVO bikes as well. Each Dealer received one of each to sell. Cosmetic differences only between the FXR2 and the FXR3. Both are rubber mounted EVO motors with rear shocks. The FXR bikes were the precursor to today's Dyna models.

I may live to own several Harleys but I will never sell my FXR2.

I am thinking about getting on a Street Bob or Wide Glide and off the bagger. I don't regret getting the SG but most of the time I feel like I don't need all the gadgets and accessories that go along with it. I'm just curious how many of you bought a touring bike and decided to go back to a more standard bike and why?
The best option is to have two bikes. One for touring and one for fun.

It surprised me, but after the wreck ( a pickup ran a stop sign, shot out from behind a building and right in front of me at 50 mph,) I rebuilt my S/E Road Glide salvage back into a S/E Road King because there were sooooo many fewer parts to buy gong that route. I left my lowers installed and ya' know what? I prefer the Road King version of my bike with a windshield. I never used the radio anyway except when working on or washing the bike. The fuel gauge was always secondary to the trip meter, I never pulled more that 4,000 rpm even in a fast pass situation, etc etc.

The bike feels lighter, and quicker and yes, touring chassis are excellent handling bikes, just so much more so without a tour pak or a fairing IMO.

Been running a electra glide 25 yrs, had a bunch of them. I currently have an 01 Flht , and a 1993 Fxrs-sp and Bmw R1200RT. They all are different rigs ..... Flht for 2- up riding , fxr for ripping around town and the BMW for carving thru the adirondaks and solo long distance riding.

I never have or will get any touring bike, even though I love the way a SG looks. I ride one once and it just seemed too much bike for me...too wide, too heavy and too many bells and whistles. I'll stick to my Blackline.

Buddy of mine traded his Ultra for a Wide Glide this year and is loving it. I thought I'd want a bagger and rode a few Ultras and a Street Glide but they're a little too big for commuting and short trips around town.

Ride what suits you.
