I guese it depends on a few things... If you go with SE air kit, or Ness, what slip ons, do you do the work, does the dealer?
Here's what mine cost on an '05 Ultra:
I had the dealer do everything, had the work done when my 1K was due. I went with the SE Air kit, SE slash cut slip ons, no endcaps needed, a remap. Parts, labor etc... around 900.00.
I know I could have saved the 300.00 in labor if I did the work myself, but I just didn't feel confident enough when I first got the bike. I also hear I could have saved maybe another 100.00 in parts if I purchased them on-line somewhere else.
So I guess, if you get your own parts, do the work yourself, you'd stilll have to pay for the remap, but you could do it for around...
500.00 - 600ish depending on slip-ons. The dealer I went to (didn't know any better at the time) is one of the more expensive around too.
My SE2 pipes were 200 and change(less than 30 minutes to install), jets were 12 or so( less then 20 minutes to install) not sure wht the SE air filter set up ran, it came in a bag with the bike.
I also did the SE ignition module, SE coil, SE wires and plugs, cost another 200 or so, less than an hour to install all of that.
Note the install times and see what the dealer books out the labor hours for and I'm certainly not as fast as some of their techs.
I went with Vance & Hines Straight shots $385 ,and a Vance & Hines Dynojet carb kit with Thunderslide mod for $95 ,and an Arlen Ness Big Sucker breather kit for $115 . Installed it myself ,didn't feel like paying the dealers $150 an hour labor rate. So all together with tax came to a little under $650.
Cost me about $900.00 in Michigan to get the Stage 1 mods done. SE air filter, remap, SE II's slip-ons, all installed by the dealer at the 1K check-up.
Going to put the stock pipes back on this weekend myself. Anyone know about how much torque on the bolts below the hard bags on the Road Glide? I read 60 ft lbs. on the clamp at the pipe, but didn't see anything about the rear mounts?
I had Stage 1 Tunning, K&N Filter and Screaming Eagle Baloney cut shorties for my 05 Softail Heritage fitted and this came to nearly $1000 ( Using $1.72 to the UK ÂŁ) Although that is quite costly compared to prices in the US it was well worth it as the extra torque makes the bike far easier to ride and has totaly changed its characteristics. These were paid for by my wife as an aniversary present and I was visiting a dealer with my mate who was having his Road King serviced when the dealer sprang it on me as a surprise which my mate knew about all along !

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
12Stones have some faith. I had the SEII air filter, jet kit and SEII slash downs installed at the dealer for about $450.00 dollars. I had this done with a 2500 mile service so the total bill was just over $500 including oil, filter, etc. Does it really cost $1,000 to have the same upgrade done to a big twin?
