I have poly bushings and there is still some flex but very little.. I know my bars are torqued to the right specs as well.. You have to expect some movement with taller bars...bushing are easy to install.. Take it apart and add new ones and be done with it.
Remove top riser plate, smear red loctite around the bars where they contact the risers, re-install top riser plate. Let sit overnight. Your bars will never move again.
How will that tighten up the bushings?
To the O/P...Just take the old rubber bushings out and put in a set of poly bushings, it'll solve the problem and it only takes a few minutes.

Thanks for the suggestion, however it's not the bars that move. It's the riser and speedo that have a little play.
May I suggest you look for another shop next time. If they didn't know better than to reuse the rubber bushings, they are lacking in basic knowledge. You paid them to do the job correctly didn't you? Even if you didn't ask them to use poly bushings, they should have recommended it to you before completing the work.

High roller....my thoughts exactly!! Not only did they not recommend this, they gave me the bike back with burnt out front blinkers, a nut and bolt missing from the bracket that holds the clutch cable to the frame. That's careless work in my book.

God I hate this! Shops charge obscene $ and do this kind of work. Awful.
