and, is 200 a lot of miles?

No you can have your opinion. just like everyone else. we had things we had to get done that Saturday so yes 200 miles is a lot if you have only time for that. weather has been bad here for almost a month so we had good ride.
you just seem to have some hostility in your response. Do you do this everytime someone adds a piece of chrome or do dad to their bike. Again you can have your opinion.

I`m of a mind to leave the small parts on a bike alone and not call attention to them.

Cables, hoses, brake lines etc, I like to have them as unobtrusive as possible.

The shifter return spring on my `89 never failed, and it never happened to anyone I know.

The battery cable and starter relay that were replaced under recall never failed on me, or anyone else I know.

The el cheapo shifter linkage ball joint never failed on me either, or anyone else I know.

But I know all those failures were common.

I say it's a nice little addition. But, I am a fan of cosmetic (and functional) mods. I always get a kick out of it when I see people looking at my bike and walking around it pointing out the little things here and there.

as for the wife, ask her why she needs expensive jewelry. It's not like anyone will notice, right?

ahhh Man , you bought the "whistler model"
Bad , the stocker was designed for quiet operation.
many hours of engineering involved.

You replaced it with a cheapo knockoff that will whistle at 60.6 MPH.
even the "logo" on it is a knockoff.

I bought a used '03 RK with 38,000 miles on it. After going over it, changing cam tensioners, all fluids etc and checking it out, I started riding it to see what else it might need. Put a hundred miles or so total, on it, pulled into a parking lot, went inside the building, came out and the shifter rod was laying on the primary. Thought someone was messing with me. Tried to put it back together but the ball joint was worn out. I always carry a few zip ties with me in the tool bag so fixed it to get home. Original HD part.

I had the stock linkage break on me. Zip tying it together was the only thing that kept me riding. Good mod.

You are correct mcdaniel. It goes to the outward side of the motor.

The factory linkage failed on my 05 at about 20,000 miles. Fortunately it was on the lift getting a bath in the garage when it happened.

The day I took delivery of my Limited I replaced the linkage with the the OP style. I also replaced the brake pads with Lyndall Z Plus. (I hate brake dust!)
