replaced the boring shift linkage today. wife said she didn't see much difference. I told her I bet the forum would differ with her.

The heim joints are a safety improvement in and of itself. Tell her that if you are proceeding through an intersection and the linkage breaks, it could be fatal. This one will not breake.

The OEM shift linkage on my '04 RK broke at the "socket coupling" at about 30K miles. I taped it back together and got home OK. The Screamin' Eagle linkage that I replaced it with has a Heim joint instead of the POS rubber socket that the OEM linkage had. The SE linkage should have been OEM on my bike instead of a $100.00 accessory.
The O P has done a fine and noble deed that should earn his wife's undying gratitude.

Good work, major upgrade over the crappy stock linkage.

To me, it's the little things that make a big difference! Everyone sees pipes, handlebars but when they see smaller touches, it's cool.

And my wife said, "That's nice!"
