I've never owned one myself. But if you want one, get one.

Someone doesn't like it? Tell them to take a walk off something tall on to something sharp.

Bought an 04 883 for my son. Fun bike to ride. Better then the 79 ironhead I rode in 80. Only complaint is the lean carb setting the factory put in to make the envirobi***'s happy. Makes the bike a pain at times at slow speeds, working to fix that.
Fun on the hwy for short runs, got my Dyna for long ones. If my son dicides he doesnt want it I will do an 80" kit in it and wait for the first Skirtster comment and see what he has.
Ride what ya want, most people I ride with started on Sporty's and regret selling them for larger rides-fun factor was/is to great. They are not the longest production model run of any bike in history because people hate them.

All the women I see riding HD's are usually riding a big-twin of some sort.

Most people riding Sportsers are guys, usually younger to middle aged.

So, knowing this, it does appear that the 'big twins' are actually "girls bikes!"

Sporty bashers have a self confidence issue or they're just repeating that same old line they've heard for so many years and not even thinking about what they're saying.
Ninety-nine per cent of them don't even know why the Sportster was developed by the MOCO in the first place.

I love the Sportster 883, was my first HD.

I am not sure what a girly bike is, other than any bike painted pink?

Yep!
And if the OP really wants to put an end the the he-man snide remarks, just buy an old XLCH Ironhead (one nicely maintained) and ask them to start it for ya, since they, being too manly for a girls bike, should have no problem kicking her to life.
Most will back down, and the ones stupid enough to try will provide you with the best entertainment imaginable.

It's only a "girls bike", if a girl is riding it.

Personally, I've never considered a Sportster. I've always liked how I sat down "into" the 74s and now the 103s, rather than "on top" of them. And I've never cared for the smaller engine.

Other than that, I don't care what others ride...guys, girls, big or small bikes.

If this is what you are worried about it is to late, you are already setting yourself up because you are worried about what other people might see instead of seeing who you are and what you like.
