I love my Biltwell 3/4, VERY comfortable. No helmet lift & eliminates ear wind noise. Always wear it on highway with the bubble shield. I just wear my 1/2 only if I'm just riding in town.
I will wear my Bell 500 when I ride my WG without a windshield.. It really cut down on the wind noise, which bothered me the most, and I don't get any lift out of it at highway speeds...
Just bought a new street bob and usually wear a full face when cold, and half when it's warm. WELL, on the highway at about 85, felt like my head was going to detach from my body due to my half helmet becoming a parachute. Would a 3/4 helmet like the daytona cruiser or bell 500 help alleviate this lift off experience? With the full face it's perfectly fine, i just like having the wind in my face and been seeing these 3/4 helmets come around more often. Thanks for your experience. I might add, i have had street bikes my entire life, and for the last 5 years i have been on an electra glide with shorty windshield.
I've given up on my Scorpion 1/2 helmet except around town - at speed feels like it will dislocate my neck.
I use an Arai 3/4 and a Shoei 3/4 and love them both. Just got a 2014 Ultra Limited and put a new headset in the Arai and I love it.
Rarely with my 3/4 and more commonly with the FF, I would end up with a headache. Initially, I was thinking that maybe they are sized wrong, but I had each helmet size when I purchased it. Sucks to get a headache or feel like your helmet is trying to separate your head from your body while riding.
interesting, so the FF has the lift effect? I have the bell EVO modular and besides wind noise i absolutely love that helmet. It stays put on my head and deflects wind very well. wind noise is crazy though and feel like i should wear plugs with them.....i'm definitely getting the flat black 3/4 daytona cruiser helmet. So cliche with my kd's, 3/4 helmet and my denim black street bob, but i don't care, live it up! LMAO I'll need some chuck taylors and some skinny jeans now, (i'm totally being sarcastic here) but def getting that 3/4 helmet for wind noise reduction, decreased air lift, and i think they still look bada@@!!!!
Any helmet can get lift, depending on the combination of the helmet, windshield, lowers, fangs, handlebars, etc. with your height, posture, riding position, etc. It truly is an individual fitment, and what works for one person does not work for another.
