The Harley manual is not a DIY at home book, because there's no crescent wrenches, bailing wire,or duct tape mentioned in it.

That is exactly right and exactly the way they want it to be. The "law industry". A vast majority of politicians are lawyers who also create new laws. The more laws on the books, the more work for the law industry. They have created gtheir own markets and ruined every sense of the word Liberty.

The owners manual for my old bike ('02 Sporty) mentioned "Death or Serious Injury" well over 200 times. I was startin' to think the bike was gonna pull a pistol on me & just get it over with.

Honestly, just how many people does one think have been seriously injured or killed when working on a bike? Of the few that may have been seriosly injured or killed (yeah, right) how many have sued?
I think this is more the product of a board of directors, surrounded by a fleet of barristers hired to protect their asses.
I own factory service manuals for every vehicle and tool I own, and sure there disclaimers in all of them. Ordinarily in the front of the manual as a general note.
It's not ordinary to see it sprinkled throughout a manual.
Does it surprise me? No. As mentioned above the general public no longer wants to be responsible for *their own* actions, rather when they exercise Darwin's Rule, they expect someone to pay them for being born deficient.

Welcome to the new America. "Cover your ***,at all costs". This works out swell for the 99% ers, they can just flip open the manual, and impress their friends with how "dangerous" motorcycle riding is............................" Wall, looky here,Jethro,if'n ya' use a 8mm socket, instead of a 5/16",yu gonna' die. That there is dangerous ****,ma' man!

Don't forget to disconnect your battery, if you want to air up your tires or add oil.

Naw,man. Harley Tire Air is deionized,so it can't 'splode. But there's hell to pay if you fart, while simultaneously turning the ignition on.
