Ok....if he insulted someone I consider a biker, he would have got his *** handed to him on principle alone.
For the other 99% of us - many individualize our bikes to make them different to the other 800 in the parking lot. Some go to more effort than others. This guy obviously went beyond the guy who bolts a 'Live to Ride, Ride to Live" fuel door on. As such I would be willing to bet he appreciates a compliment as much as the next guy. Conversely, no matter what anyone says, probably feels a little less proud after a comment like the OP's. That's not cool to do to anyone - "biker" or little girl showing off a new Barbie.
Basically it comes down to manners. Something that seems to be on a decline these days. I would like to think the grown men in here would set a better example.
I can't say I like it, but I am not the man/woman riding it. I have had plenty of folks tell me they don't like parts I have added to my Fat Boy, I shrug and move on, its my ride and my opinion is all that matters on the issue. If the owner likes the paint job and does not grill me for an honest opinion, I can happily allow him to enjoy his ride with no judgement from me.
I would have said nothing about the bike. I was always told if you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all. I would have had to remain very silent on that bike.
