Not sure how old you are, but it might be a healthy change. Personally, when I was 31, I was running the parts department for the 2nd largest Bobcat dealership in the country. Family owned, lots of drama, but a nice place to work. We also sold John Deere.

Nothing like a guy coming into the parts department looking for parts for his 30 year old John Deere lawn tractor. I'd ask him the model number and he'd say, not sure, but it's green.

When I moved to Atlanta in '93, I decided to take time off and go back to school to finish my bachelor's degree. It was the single smartest thing that I ever did in my life. I've been working in IT for 20+ years, I went back in 08 to get my MBA as well. Life has been very good.

Might want to take that extra time and retool your skills. It can only lead to a brighter future.

Good luck with your decision!

Not sure why you are asking us. This is a personal decision only you can make.

But since you asked. Do it.

Don't waste one more minute doing what you don't want to do. You only get one life.

If you can fairly easily return to your job at the foundry, I say go ahead and take a break. Go for the job at the dealership. If you like it, great. If you don't, at least you got a break from the foundry for a while.
I've never worked at a Harley dealership, but if my local dealer wasn't so far away, I'd try to get a part time job there when I retire.
