I picked this jacket up about a year or two ago at a charity auction. I think I paid about $60 for it. Looks like new. I never wore it because it didn't fit. Tag says Hein Gerike made exclusively for Harley Davidson. 42 reg.
Since I lost some weight, I pulled it out of the closet and now it actually fits! A little snug, but not bad. Seems to be a slim cut, a bit wider in the shoulders and narrow waist, maybe European cut?
Anyone else have one of these? A good deal at $60?
Sorry about the pics. Stupid phone camera...
I have a Hine Gericke jacket (no HD logo) that is 25 years old. I had to replace the zipper last year other than that it is just as good today as it was when I bought it.
Used to be a great brand. i don't know anymore. But even if they are mediocre now, $60 for a motorcycle jacket is a great price. Heck I just spent that for a Scorpion Mesh jacket and thought it was a steal.
I have several Hein Gericke leather jackets of various design. Racer, Bomber, and a casual. All were purchased in the late 80's when they were being made in Germany. At that time, H/G was all I would buy, I loved them so much. They weren't cheap....but it was a good investment. All are in wonderful condition even today, some 25 years later.
I have heard they're no longer made in Germany. Don't know whether it's true. And, if so, no idea where they ARE being made (I HOPE its not China or Venezuela or some such).
If your jacket is indeed H/G and it's one of the German manufactures, I'd say you got a pretty good bargain. Back in the 80's, even the cheapest H/G still cost $350-375, give or take.
