2009 SG. Went to remove a smudge from the flat black upper inner fairing paint with a little rubbing alcohol and it took the dang paint right off!
Stopped by the dealer and as usual they have no idea why that would happen and told me they have no way to find out from HD what kind of paint it is. Nor does HD sell this paint so I can fix it myself. They suggested going to a local auto paint supplier which I think is BS. How are they going to know?
I have a feeling this may be water based paint but have no idea why it came right off with a little swipe of rubbing alcohol and I do not want to disassemble the whole thing to paint all of it.
Same bike (2009 FLHX) and my inner fairing's black "plasic" = no paint. You probably just marred the surface w/the chemical. A pic of this area would help verify...
Nope, its some kind of paint and where it came off it's light gray so it looks like crap. Thats why I want to get the right stuff, mix it up and carefully shoot some color back on there and blend it in.
