I don't see how we could ever agree on faith, we can't even agree on what a biker is. LOL I know all about the "born again" bunch. I am one. As an X pastor I can tell you that even within denominational lines beliefs and practices are very varied. If you put your faith in people they will let you down no matter what they believe.

That said there are lots of folks who are really great and will stick by you in any situation regardless of what they believe.

I'm no longer a church goer, but my beliefs are still the same. My problem with some chruches is that they don't really want you around unless you look, dress, act just as they do. It's human nature I guess, but it is the very thing that turns the rest of us folks off who may be truly seeking spiritual nurture.

Duh, how did you get me talking about this? It's time to ride.

[sm=dontgetit.gif] Sounds like the same thing to me. If you offer without me asking, you're pushing. If I want you to show me, I'll ask.

Pococj, Again, it was my PERSONNAL experience. If someone with a freakin' clown hat knocks on my door and I open it and then they blast me in the face with a hammer, then the same thing happens 4 more times, then guess who I wouldn't want to be opening my door for in the future? Who am I not going to trust? A guy with a clown hat. Sounds pretty logical to me. I'm not saying that ALL religious/born again people are like that, but IN MY PERSONNAL EXPERIENCE, it has been so. Everyone's life experiences are different from each other's, so your Sporty frame creep annology was quite a reach and not even close to reality. Are all priests child molesters? Not hardly. Are there some? Yes. If achild was molested by one priest, then told another, then THAT priest molested them, then do you think that child would haveas much faith in priests as another child whose experienceswith HIS priests were of the highest nature? Uhm, probably not. Sorry that you took offense at MY experiences. Peace/out.
It would appear that I didn't do a very good job explaining my point. The "offense" I took was a poor attempt at mild sarcasm; in truth, you really did not offend me. What I was trying to point out was it is nearly always a mistake to lump a group of people together and then blame the group for the actions of a few in the group. We as muttersickle riders complain of this treatment frequently, don't we? Why then should we turn around and do the same thing to others?

I could've picked garbage barge riders instead of the dirtbag who ripped my Sporty frame, after all, barge pilots tend to be overweight ol' farts who ride too slow in the fast lane, and who laden their muttersickles down with useless crap.

I'll repeat my point in a slightley different manner: It is never OK to judge someone for someone else's actions.

Doesn't mean that you can't approach them with a healthy dose of scepticism, and allow them to sink or swim on their own merits.

And after the first clown clobbered me with a hammer the second and subsequent ones would be greeted with a dose of that scepticism in the form of a .357.

since this is confusing to me, i have a question: if someone i have never met before knocks on my door in the morning and wants to discuss religion with me, are they also just offering me something like a beer, or would you consider that to be "trollin'" for something?

i ask because it seems pretty simliar to me to someone coming up outta the blue and "offering" to do some praying on me. can you show me the difference?

kato1964: thanks!
One difference might be the location; one instance is a public place, the other is a private residence. I occasionally get certain religious groups making the trek up my 1/4 mile drive to talk to me about their religion. I politely tell them I have my beliefs and that I'm not interested in what they have to say. No big deal; comes with living in a relatively free society.

Are they trollin'? Yep, I'd reckon so, and they've shown that by their actions during previous visits. But until they proved that's what they're doin' I couldn't say one way or the other.

Hope that helps.

One observation about this whole thread. An underlying tone that appears is that it's OK for someone to have whatever religion they want. But it is not OK to tell anyone about it.

Just an observation.

Square it with the 1st Amendment.
