I bought a dandy older 1984 Ultra Classic and after many rides the back break locked up after using it, not hard either. Luckily I was infront of a guys house with his garage door open and willing to help.
I had to pull my saddle bag and break the bleeder valve loose (lost a little fluid) to release the break. May of been air in the lines now but the break released and still worked so I took off thanking him for the use of a 8mm wrench to open the bleader valve.
Break working fine I let it go. Month later it did it again. This time I had the right tools to do it again on the side of the road.
This has now happened a few times now, even after topping off and bleeding them and topping off the break fluid again. I just quit using my back break till I find out why unless I really needed it.
Collapsed Break line? I couldn't see that it was collapsed but maybe it was.
Had a guy wanting to buy my bike and sold it becuase I bought a second one with a new 113 S&S motor with less than a 1000 miles on it from my father in law.
I told the new owner of my old bike about the break issues I still couldn't figure out and even gave him a crappy 8mm wrench incase he needed it. He said he would look into it and I never seen the guy again.
RIGHT ON! I kinda fixed my back break issues getting another used Ultra Classic! LOL BUT NO! My new (to me) dandy 1990 Ultra is doing the same damn thing shortly after I got it!
I guess I wasn't meant to have back breaks. (sad) Any ideas?
I ride a 96 sportster and had the same proble. I removed the master cylinder, took it apart and discovered it was full of sludge and it wasn't allowing the fluid to return to the master cylinder. Cleaned it up put it back together and haven't had a problem with it since and its been about a year and a half.
It happen to me that i thoughg i did something wrong when i install new cam. Only one neighbur saw me struggling and he came he point it out to me. Locked rear brake. After few try it was master cylinder keep stuck . Even tgough i put new kit last year and mew caliper . I uses another master cylindrr kit and clean the caliper piston and that was it. I ll suggest check if master cylondrr isnt overfilled. Then start cleaning calipper first then go for test ride then master cylinder .

Thanks guys! I hope it's just a collapsed break line even though I can't tell from just looking at it. The more I think about it the second I break the bleeder valve loose the break pedal flips up fast leads me to believe that may be it.

Never tore into one but I may just do this too to be sure it's clean as well. Thanks
