ya my ears been hurting from the wind some since I got me a half helmet for the summer munts. Damn bike got really noisy too. So got me some ear plugs wore em home this morning no hurting earaches and the bike even runs better . heh.
I can still hear pretty good just a lot of the high end squelch been reduced. Engine doesnt get lugged bec now I cant hear the sucker rapping out in 3rd gear. I shift when It feels good not when I think my engines gonna blow.
Im thinking ear plugs are going to become standard riding gear for me now..I enjoyed my quiet ride way tooo much.
Ear plugs are great for long trips, especially if you want to enjoy hearing when you get older. I ride a Deuce without a windshield and have always worn a half helmet. Earplugs are a must for long highway rides.
I have been using my headphones more for my IPod or IPhone and that works great too. Some guys get fitted plugs for their ears but I've been using the throw away ones and always keep them on the bike for that purpose.
I wear them when I'm going to be riding over 200 miles. Otherwise no. They do help with the wind noise, but I feel weird after a ride with them and get off the bike. Like being in a tunnel. Takes a few minutes to straighten out after removing them.
I've been using Mack's ear plugs for years. I have some hearing loss from too many years of loud rock music so I did'nt want to loose any more. As you said it's the wind which is the real problem. They cut the decibels down about 30 which is not a hugh amount but really cut down on the wind noise but I can carry on a normal conversation with 'em in. If you use plugs for awhile & then do without them for a ride or two you can see how much difference they make.
