When I got my bike I received Harley's half-helmet audio headset, which is an over-the-ear headset with microphone. It works well enough, but after a couple of hours the headset (whose weight is mostly supported by resting on your ears) becomes quite painful. I tried using ear buds, but none had an effective mic for communication.
I found a Harley item I didn't know existed: a pair of ear flaps (Harley part # 98252-07V) that tuck into the rim of pretty much any half helmet, that holds the standard headset speaker pods you would use with either a full face or 3/4 helmet.
I can now use the comm features all day without a clamp feeling on my head. Just passing this along in case any one else wanted to know ...
I wear a vega xta touring half helmet. It comes with a full curtain that has pouches for speakers. I have the sena smh 10 and works great. Use Waze gps app from phone and hear turn by turn directions. I also listen to music from the phone while on a long ride. I can hear the wife or daughter, whoever is riding on the back through the speakers also. And finally, cuts down the wind from entering into the ear canal. I can't imagine riding with out it
I use a Sena SPH10-FM. It has ear pods with built in speakers that slide up into the shell of your half helmet. It's awesome.
If you also have a full face helmet, you can buy a speaker kit to transfer the unit to it as well. I have a modular helmet I use during colder weather and I transfer mine over.
