Wife and I were just coming home from dinner and a deer jumped out from a downward wooded bank to our left. Hopped a guard rail and jumped right out in front of us.
Hit it broadside straight on at least doing 40 mph. Thing was no fawn had to weigh 200lbs.
I slowed the bike to a stop afterward we got it towed. Both us feel very sore right now.
Hit one a couple years ago on my '03 FXDL and crunched the rear fender, put four or five small dents in the tank and a half inch crack in the lower triple tree along with some very light scratches here and there and my insurance totaled it.
I ended up buying it back as the insurance company was very generous in our negotiations and bought me an '07.
Glad you were able to walk away from it. A friend of mine was coming up out of California back in '11 and he hit a deer but the deer won, it was a sad day for many.
Having nearly experienced the same many times I am always amazed. Deer are so crafty and elusive while hunting them but put them near a road and all bets are off. Anyway, glad y'all are okay (I presume).
I'm glad you are ok. I hit a fawn a few years ago and feel very fortunate I didn't go down. The only damage done was both pinch bolts on the forks snapped.
