Don't forget to duck behind the windshield when passing gravel trucks..pebbles, stones and sand smacking your face hurts.
Haha I can only imagine how that feels. I only have a full face helmet right now and I've never had anything else but I ordered a half helmet this morning and figured I'd give one a try.
I've never had a problem seeing in rain with a windshield. Visor on the helmet, different story. I've ridden in heavy rain and only got wet from the ankles down, too, but that depends on not having to stop; one full stoplight, and you're wet.
Took my grandson for a rain ride in the sidecar rig, and he didn't even get damp. I didn't either. Just have to keep moving.
RainX, no, but I wax my shields and helmet visors with a good car wax and it works almost as good. Does a good job of cutting headlight glare at night, too, and bugs wipe off easier.
I've looked through not over my windshield for thousands of highway miles.
If the windshield is basically clean, it will shed the rain well enough to look through.
(at least mine does. design and angle may play into it)
If the windshield is large enough, you will be surprised how much protection against the rain it will provide.
When your face shield gets too wet, stick your head in the wind and look 90 degrees left, then 90 right. The wind will clean your face shield off well.
Imold is right. Just keep moving. Even in the rain I am travelling at traffic speed or greater.

Something that hasn't been mentioned, the windshield creates a dead air spot behind the shield. This creates an updraft and brings the rain below the windshield up to your face. My FXD, FXDLI and my Road Glide Ultra experiences this. I bought a product for Lexan and polycarbonate windshields. Worked pretty well at speed on the Roadie. The rain repellent is from Cee Bailey and designed for aircraft windscreens.
