RE: WTF Is up withe the extra 1K tacked on Softails?
Also, most dealers charge a "doc fee" (documentation) for the F & I paperwork.....regardless of how you pay. This is a pure profit area for all dealers. I have seen those fees anywhere from $150 to $500 at auto and bike dealers. There again, you don't have to pay it.
I did not pay a doc fee on the last 2 bikes and last 2 cars I bought---- after I told them what I do for a living......I just explained their system to them and theyhad no way toargue with me. One dealer actually told "the owner makes us charge that to every buyer". I said "Ok, tell him, I don't pay that to anyone and will buy elsewhere". Minutes later I bought without paying it!
And the dealer gets a "kickback" from the financing if they arrange it for you through someone they deal with. Though the kickback does not get to them usually until you pay it off.
So when you add freight, dealer prep, doc fee, tax, title & tag fee, warranty rights fee ( in most states ). Except for sales tax (if you have it), tag & title fee and warranty rights fee, the rest is all negotiable -- whether they want to admit it or not.
RE: WTF Is up withe the extra 1K tacked on Softails?
All the Dyna people aregrinnin knowing that the dealers jacked up the price on all the big twins except ours. They left the best bikes they make out of their screwing.
RE: WTF Is up withe the extra 1K tacked on Softails?
No tacking on at my local Dealer, Goe in Angleton Tx. I betting those whoare tacking on the extra money are also the ***** who tacked 3k on all HD in the 90's when they could not keep up demand. I would never pay over MSRP for anything. Hell I haven't paid MSRP for anything except my Low Rider. Go else where for everything and let those stealers die a slow and painful death.
RE: WTF Is up withe the extra 1K tacked on Softails?
If there is no markups happening, why suddenly have all three dealers in our area stopped posting the orices of new bikes on their websites? They all say "see dealer for pricing." We did a price check (inperson)between two dealers on a 1200C, and the difference was 1000.00 exactly between dealers....yesterday.
