OK...even though I have been riding for about 18 months after a 30 year break I made a bonehead mistake last night. I am always careful to park my Softail so that I can get out easily. Well last night I parked on what looked to be level ground but it wasn't. I am not a large guy (5'5"/150) and I was having a heck of a time backing up my bike so I could get out on the road. It took me about 10 minutes of a "jerk/pull/brake" routine till I finally got out enough to point the nose downhill.
My question...the next time I have this problem is there an "easier" way to get out of trouble?
Luckily (due to my feeling of complete ineptness) no one else was around to witness this.
OMG!!! I agree one heck of a visual, thanks for the belly laugh. Just to clarify...I started by trying to "walk the dog" but my darn short legs wouldn't get it done.
WOW ,,,ya got me MasterSrg Joe.....

Carry an extra person to help you pussh or learn to tell up hill from down hill. From experience I know that it is much harder on a soft surface. Uh, no pun intended

Don't feel like the "Lone Ranger" Tonto.. We all have done that and I am sure that we will do it again. Even when we think that we are parked at a good angle it will happen.. Has to me several times and I have a larger bike then you and think about what it takes to move mine...

Sarge, Sometimes I get in situations like that with my EGC and the only thing that works for me (other than swallowing my pride and asking for help) is compressing the forks with front brake, then using the upward momentum along with pushing back with my legs to make rearward progress a few inches at a time. Baby steps so to speak. Awkward, but effective.
