Sounds like the "I'm more important than you" syndrome. Get over yourself.
Sounds like I am a volunteer firefighter and was trying to get to an emergency, but you and your wanna be MC friends just stay in your large groups and assume you run the road

Sounds to me like you have an attitude problem.
If you are a volunteer firefighter, then you of all people should understand why group rides ride the way they do. It is for the safety of all in the group.
I applaud you being a volunteer, and if you have flashing lights on your vehicle that indicate you are a volunteer firefighter, maybe you should have taken down the plate number of the last bike and turned it over to authorities...
So many things that you COULD have done to try to alleviate the problem...
I have seen where a car cut into the middle of a pack and saw the safety issues it caused and the potential injury it COULD have caused just because someone thought THEY owned the road....
Yeah volunteer firefighters in Ontario put a green light on / in our trucks so people recognize its an unofficial emergcny vechicle and to move out of the way of it
So annoying there is nothing worse then being on a single lane highway riding along and comming up to a large group ride that is going the speed limit or a little under the speed limit leaving no way to pass.
I am not knocking someone for driving the speed limit that's fine the law is the law, and I am not picking on group rides they are not for me but to each their own.
That being said however when you are in a group of around 20-30 bikes instead of taking over an entire section of road and basically screwing over any other vehicle on the highway with you. Leave a few large noticeable gaps in your group allowing faster riders / motorist to pass, it's just commen decency and it's not going to force people to make risky passing attempts to get around you keeping people in the group ride and other people on the road safe
I agree 100%. I hate when "fellow" riders don't take into account that others may want to actually ride their motorcycles, not waddle down the road in parade formation. Even the single riders, or onesie/twosie riders that slow waaaaaaay down in the curves, then accelerate in the straights drive me crazy. If you see someone behind you, move over, acknowledge them and signal them around, when feasible. Then continue with your ride. No harm, no foul, just rider courtesy.
Nope just a volunteer firefighter that could not help somebody that needed it because a large group ride refused to move over and make space even though I had my green light flashing
There must be a lot of dicks up there in Ontario because in the states I've NEVER seen drivers or riders not yield to emergency vehicles.
It must be a Canadian thing. The group thought they were more important than you.

Years ago, I got stuck behind a group like that. The back end of it had a major "rubber-band" thing going on, and was averaging 45 mph. Because of curves, hills, and sight lines, there weren't many places to pass the whole group safely. One straight section finally presented itself. Being young and immortal with a fast bagger, I went for it. When I went around the two guys in front, I was at 117 mph. Made it.
Having survived...These days I would consider pulling over for a minute or two and let them get some distance before doing that again. If the amateur groupies wanna think they're better off riding like that, I don't need to be the wrench in their gears.

Seems like this is a pretty important piece of information that maybe should have been included in the original post...unless you WERE hoping this thread would take a different direction. A group riding the speed limit owes you nothing in my opinion, UNTIL an emergency situation with properly displayed and activated emergency equipment (official or volunteer) presents itself.
Ever been in a country song, stuck behind a working man in a tractor taking up most of the road doing way less than the speed limit??? Lol
