I just picked up an 07 Fatboy no problems yet but I only have 20 miles on it, haven't got out of 4th gear yet. So far everything seems great but I have heard of strange noises in 5th and 6th gear. Does anyone here have an 07 without any problems?
I have an '07 Suprglide Custom with no problems BUT, I did not have a Harley Davidson before this bike so I do not know how quiet/ loud this bike is supposed to be, all I know is that since September and 725 miles this bike has been trouble and unusual noise free vs the Honda 1800 VTX I traded for it.
alil early to be paranoid and alil late to be researching ya think? not flaming but its new and warrantied enjoy riding it and if something should come up stick it to the dealer to deal with. congrats on the new wheels.
Just kidding. The '07's rock. Just ride it. 5th gear has a whine, but it's much less annoying than the whining from those on this forum who talk about it all the time. The whine is a side-effect, not a problem. The '07's run lean from the factory for EPA compliance. When you change the exhaust, get a high-flow air cleaner and a fuel management system like a PCIII or SERT or T-Max or DTT or FuelPak or whatever. You'll get better performance and the engine will run cooler.
Your right I am paranoid. The problem with reading forums is you see an unusually high number of complaints because people with problems tend to vent there anger in a forum. Happy people you rarely hear from. I love my new hog, it's my first HD and I really should have bought one years ago, thats my only complaint so far...
i traded my 06 RKC for an 07 after much deliberation. definitely made the right decision.
no problems with the 07. yes 5th makes a bit of a whine but hey i got a 6th gear now.
the engine does run a bit hot but after i change the air cleaner and install a SERT i believe the engine will run a bit cooler.
have done approx. 1900 kms which in your language is approx. 1200 miles.

Hmmm, how can you hear noises in 5th and 6th gear if you haven't got out of 4th gear yet?
Anyways, good choice in a bike, the fatboy.. same as mine and same year too! If you put a windshield on most likely you will hear more noises than you know about right now. They get amplifed and reflected off the windshield. As anyone who owns a Harley can tell you.. Harleys can and will make strange sounds, specially some of the older ones. All sorts of strange sounds... but anyways.
I have had no problems with my 07 Fatboy as of yet, besides some strange sounds coming from the transmission.... I am about to change out the syn3 in it to some Amsoil gear oil and see how it does.

I was wondering that myself how you hear noise in gears you haven't even been in hmmm. My 07 has 2400 miles on it now and no problems, I also put Redline in the tranny from day one. Maybe just one of the lucky ones.
