I think this is just an issue or non-issue that has been blown out of proportion. The only reason I even brought it up, was because someone asked me if I had heard anything about it. I hadn't heard anything, nor had any problem with my bike though I have only had it for a few weeks. I am not going to worry about it, unless a problem arrises. I am having too mucch fun riding to worry about a "maybe problem." I will get an oil temp gauge and an oil pressure guage just so I can keep an eye on it if I get stuck in traffic, but that is as far as it goes.

Well, I've not heard of a single problem with the engine locking up, so I'd right that off to Internet rumor. Do the bikes run hot, you bet they do. Before I bought mine I lurked on this forum and others for almost three months, and I figured out that every dyno I saw was way too lean, so lean means hot and that pretty much answered the question on why the bike is hot. (besides the fact that it is air cooled and if you are not moving it's not cooling) I've heard some say why buy a bike and have to put a large air cleaner, pipes and some kind of tuner on the bike. Good question, but until things change I accepted that if I didn't want to run lean, and wanted to release the hidden HP and torque numbers in the engine, I'd do the change. Your choice, rationalize all you want about HD putting out a hot bike, bottom line is get it tuned and watch things inprove. I didn't make any of this up, I bought the bike, rode it stock, made my changes, and have dyno sheets to prove it.

It wasn't a troll posting B.S....it was a question from a guy who just bought his bike and had heard rumors.

Nice way to welcome him to the forum.

We have a little bit of warm weather riding here (120+ degrees in the shade) and mine has yet to seize up sitting in the wonderful Phoenix traffic. I think you'll be okay

I think someone is feeding you BS. It's very rare for an air-cooled bike to seize. Usually a liquid-cooled bike that is having problems with the cooling system will seize.

Why do people ask stupid questions? The 96" was tested in the Arizona heat for three years before it went into production bikes. Do ya think if there was seizing problem they would've released it, ya dumb ***? I ride year round in AZ on a 07 purchased in august 06. Did it seize up this past summer? Nope. Will it seize up this summer? Nope. Go troll someplace else, loser.

Turn the computer off and ride...There is nothing wrong with the '07's. Heating issues, loud 5th gear....bet ya a dollar none of those people complaining ever rode an Ironhead or Shovel. It's an air cooled v-twin, it's noisey and hot. Go out ride and have a blast on the new ride.
First bike was a '74 superglide, and it never ran as hot as my '07, and no gear was as loud as fifth. I love my 07 just as much if not more than the 1974, or the 1980 or the 1990.
Heat is a result of the EPA complient tune and 5th gear noise is a result of the straight cut gears. Heat I'll fix with a SERT and not lugging the motor in 5th takes care of most of the noise. Small price to pay to not have numb hands and being able to see out of the mirrors and all rpm's.
