This one should really expose me as a dumass, but here goes:
I live in an area of Florida where there are a lot of bikers, but don't know any of them. Rather than riding alone all the time, I decided to do a search on yahoo local and see what i came up with for motircycle clubs. Here's where it gets funny and i probably should shut up, but will share the story.
First on the list pops up, "Warlocks Motorcycle" and the map points a few miles from my house.
Growing up in NJ, I remember seeing them from the back of my Dad's olds riding around Asbury at the shore. My feelings were a mix of fear and awe and my Dad had nothing good to say about them which rose my curiosity.
I was going that way anyway to eat with my family, so I plugged the addy into my car gps and it says, "arriving at destination", and I go by a large house with a detached garage out back.
Obviously, I didn't tell my wife to watch the kids cause I'm goin in, but was left wondering if they are still the outlaws and racketeers of the old?
If there are any here, I mean no disrespect, I am inquisitive to a fault and was very curious.
I appologize and will feel no pain if you find it best to delete the thread and will do more reading and less posting. I can see how it could stir up trouble.
I will refine my yahoo search to ,"guys who don't mind a yahoo hanging with them."
Floydpink,as long as no disrespect was intended and it was just curiosity, then no disrespect should be taken.I have lived around patch wearer's all my biking life, and just once did I say something that stirredthe pot.Once called a patch wearer a brother and he mildly flipped out.As it turned out,his own brother's told me not to be concerned, the guy was a meathead. Most all that I have met and know are good people.
I actually read all that was at the link. Bonding is one thing but this is another. Ya just got to wonder sometimes? So many paths to take, so little direction.
