Harley Tracks: An Ode to my Boys
It's been a good year
I said with a cheer.
North and south
from west to east,
my Boys beat with the heart of a beast.
I looked with pride
as I would to a bride,
but spoke words none wanted to hear.
Our season has gone
last tracks have been laid,
sadly, the rider had said.
You whose miles are few my '98,
with my trusted and battle scarred '08,
the time has come to hibernate.
But in a blink
a chilled season will shrink,
and in April I'll call
for one to make
another Run to The Wall.

It's fun to share stories, and then let them pass, until those from the next time. It's not cool to push one, and better for others to determine the length of its prime.
However, I took advantage of an opportunity I expected many would have grabbed with a handful of throttle. I knew not where it would lead or what I would find, because this was a journey of another kind. Almost three years since, my story hit print, and from media recognition and comments from others, I find greater worth to it.
Yet, I question if my journey is truly fulfilled. With humility and gratitude I rode a once in a lifetime ride. I rode with ease through breeze and pushed onthrough the toughest elements while overseas, and now, I face a greater challenge. I'm a small guy with a big story, and despite hope, I knew that a book does not sell itself.
I live into the wind, and against the wind. I shunned caution to the sacrifice sand risks for a story like no other. (Excerpts I had posted in the Riding Stories section were a few paragraphs from my four year journey.) If you followed me through its pages, you would share the experience as I did and know my character. At the end I would ask, "Had you been there, what choices would you have made?"
Thank you, Thank A Vet, & Never Forget.

I don't say this around them; ya know when I pull the batteries they go into a sleep mode. I cover them, keep them fairly warm, and when I fire them up in Mar. or Apr., they think it's the next day.
