Well as we get older we all kinda fudge a little with the truth per say.......Kinda like fish stories, and the one that got away.....I too also enjoy talking with the older folks...They have seen so much..and to live that long is a good sign that they have lear'nt many valuable lessons over the years.....During my airforce career i had the pleasure to meet and talk to some of the old wiley pilots from years ago....Jimmy doolittle, chuck yeager, airplane designer kelly johnson and others.....Just a moment with them folks was priceless, and i could sense them fellas liked sharing their stories etc.....I think so many people ignore the elderly which is very sad....Because they like nothing more than talking with people...and sharing their lifes stories.

I manage a golf course in a 55+ community and I get people telling me stories of there biker days all the time I have even taken some of the older women for short rides to town and back and the gleam in there eye when it is over makes it alll worth while. One lady was 80 years young and had a heII of a time even getting on but loved every minute of it.

If we all would pay a little more attention to these "old timers" we could hear some interesting things.
I second that thought, and even if the story was pure fantasy, what did it cost, a few seconds to listen?

Way too many people today think they have the answer to everything, which usually means they don't know jack.

I pulled up at my best friend's house just as his in laws were getting out of their car for a visit. His father in law is in his late 70s. Dad says to me, "That sure is a nice bike, my older brother had a Harley when I was little. He wrecked before the war, so mama told me I could never ride one, so I haven't. The one thing I remember is that his was a lot bigger than yours. I guess they just don't make em like they used to". I said, "No, Mr. Pritchett, they don't", hehe. He went on to regale me with stories of his brother riding him on the handlebars and on the tank. I saw that twinkle in his eye, just like you other guys did. It was pretty special. He sat on my bike, and told me, "This thing is bigger than it looks. I guess things just look bigger when you are six years old, that is the last time I sat on my brother's bike." I just felt honored to talk to him and help him to recall some good memories of his youth.

Next time you see him, ask him he'd like a ride, that would make his day. Just keep him off the handlebars and gas tank!
