riding in rain
Hello Chuckster, I think I'm safe in saying Harley Davidson doesn't put tires on motorcycles that are going to kill everyone that buys a Harley. That wouldn't be very good for business
. I'm sure you are correct about the other tires. I'm not saying you don't know what you are talking about. I was just saying Dunlop's are not a BAD tire. The way you are talking about the Dunlop's might make people on here worry that they will be killed just because they have Dunlop rubber on their bikes [
]I'll bet 99% of the Harleys on the road are running Dunlop's. I have been running Dunlop's for over twenty years with no stopping problems. Before that I ran Goodyear super eagle 500 x 16's
on my panhead. I'm heading up North in July or August and plan on stopping by your neck of the woods. I have your cell number so I'll give you a call a week before I head out and I'll meet up with ya for a mountain cruise

IMHO i think the dunlop's suck . You can definitely feel the difference between the Metz. and Dunlop's , I went from Dunlops to Avon to Metz. and I could tell a difference between all three, and I , myself , swear by the Metzler tires. They have plenty of traction , and the handling is superior to the other forementioned tires. Everyone will have their own opinion , but I think everyone should keep an opened mind and keep their ears open to the experienced people out here.
I wouldn't go as far as suck to discribe Dunlop tires.
After all they do for the most part hold air..LOL"

A hard rain is bad enough. A hard rain at night when you have to use the lines on the road just to keep your bearings is even worse. A hard rain at night when you suddenly ride onto newly paved unlined road is a nightmare. Trust me on this one.
It was a pucker factor of infinity plus one for about 15 seconds.
Now add to that you are in the mountains where you have never been before. Gawd, I hate that.
Caleb, I have ridden in a lot of rain, including downpours, and I am not too proud to stop under an overpass when it gets to be just more than I think I can handle. If I had your experience I would feel just like you do I'm sure.
I will not get into the tire debate but I have a difficult time giving a lot of credence to someone who wrecked his bike in a downpour going 75 mph in rush hour traffic while carrying his wife and towing a camper. Just saying ...
I love how small people always try to make themselves
look bigger and smarter by trying to make someone
else look smaller to others. Man if it wasn't for people
like you who have no life and nothing better to do, this
would be a boring world we live in..

I love how you leave out the fact that I/we hit 1,000
gallons of oil that was under the water on the road
and there was no way of seeing it!!! [:'(]
Try telling the whole story the next time" Also you
didn't say that I/we still finished our vacation with
a totaled Wing and all sorts of bangs and burse's
after a welding shop welded the hitch back on the
Wing..
You also didn't say I/we still love to ride in the rain
and have no fear from the wreck at all...
You sure leave a bunch of stuff out when your trying
to make yourself look like a big smart man!!

Carry on if you must" to feel better about yourself! [:'(]

I'm right there with you, it rains a lot here and I hate being out in it. Problem with losing traction is you don't know it's going till it's gone.
The last sentence you wrote sounds like it came
right from a man that rides in the rain on Dunlops!
