Everything was already covered, HD rents bikes and Eagle rider on Arville just south of Russel also rents them. I have heard good experiences with both.
If you are coming on a weekend do nto go to the damn late. Late is after 10am. You will roast for 2 hours getting to the dam and an hour coming back. Sitting in traffic. It is bad on a Friday- Sunday after 10am. I would get up early to get that sight out of the way. The dam is amazing if you have never seen it before too.
You have Red ROck canyon and the Red Rock loop. It is on the west side of town and more of a Sight seeing at the marvelous rock formations and colors then a ride if it is a crowded day. It is about 16 miles of under 20 mph riding lokoing and admiring. Traffic can be bad at times but no stop and go bad. just keep your head up and youll do fine.
Riding out around Lake Mead is also a gorgeous wonderful ride. You have many ways you can go depending on how long you want the ride to be.
Hit me up when you come in to town and I am sure we can meet up for a ride with a couple of the other Vegas locals....
Oh and baout renting... Vegas HD sometimes will sell out mid week on a non holiday weekend as does Eagle Rider I am sure. Do nto know why... they just do when big corps and ovrseas tourist is high.
Be careful. The Las Vegas freeway is just about the most dangerous piece of roadway in the world.
And getting worse all the time. They've been stripping the surface on areas of93/95, then just leaving it like that for weeks, so you're riding in a mass of grooves. And they're not even doing it one full lane at a time; some of the lanes are half stripped and half covered. Night time is real sporty.
Great place to visit, lived there 4 1/2 years while in the military about 15 years ago. Be real careful of slippery intersections. It's so hot, rains about 3 inches a year (all in one day) and the oil on the asphalt is like ice at intersections. Should be a great time, be sure to ride up to Mount Charleston. Nice ride, great view and 20+ degrees cooler if memory serves me right. Another great ride was red rock canyon.
My brother and I drove from Washington Stateto Henderson, NV in March to pick up a bike he bought through e-bay. We're blasting downI-15 past the city center in his pickupat about 80mph, in bumper-to-bumper traffic, when a bunch ofshrubs fall off a landscaping truck about 5 cars in front of us. Everybody, including us,dynamites their brakes but, with no place to swerve to, we allrun over the shrubs. If I'd been on my bike I'd have certainlygone down and been run over 50 times before traffic could've got stopped.
Wewere down there for an afternoon of one day and the morning of the next and must've seen 20 wrecks on the freeway, including two bike wrecks. Everybody drives like it's the Indy 500 and they tailgate you about 5 feet off your bumper. If you leave space between yourrig and the one in front, somedildo will dive rightin there.
In response to vericulum, youstated that Eaglerider was at the harley shop, when would that have been?. I rented twice 04,05 and it is located at 5182 S. Arville Street. I always called ahead and gotten my requests for what bike I wanted to ride.Great people to deal with. And prices cheaper than Las Vegas Harley.....BearC.Paw.....
I couldn't remember the name of the street..but, yes....that was it...arville st....long side road with a bunch of corporate businesses, yes??? I was there in May of 04...I seemed to remember it was an HD dealer....if it wasn't, it certainly was a big place...and they had a lot of bikes. In comparison, I rented from Eaglerider in Scottsdale, AZ (2000)....that was a little shack, and they might have had 10 bikes tops...so the place in vegas (if it wasn't an HD dealer) sure looked like one compared to the place in AZ.
That's as much as I remember...oh...and that I enjoyed the ride out there quite a bit!
Yeah, it is sad to say, but vegas freeways are BRUTAL!!! It is a good ole game of russian rulette when you ride on these freeways!!! Thats why I love it here, theres always something fun for the wife and I to do! Get on the freeway and play dodgecar.
Was in vegas last October for a reunion with some Marine buddies. We had bikes reserved at Eagle Rider. Rode through Valley of Fire and Hoover Dam. Had a great time. They were very helpful, provided maps etc. Would rent from them again if in Vegas. I would recomend bringing your own helmet though.
hey, just got back from vegas last week. rented an eglide from eaglerider. bike was good, dirty. but ran good. had to pay an extra $50 because of the laughlin river rally. bikes were in demand.
anyhoo, listen, ABSOLUTELY MAKE IT A POINT to ride through Mount Charleston on the northwest side of town! phenomenl!!! then go south through red rock canyon! then ride TO the hoover dam, but not across it (pointless), THEN go by lake mead and across the valley of fire! when you make it back to las vegas,go straight down the strip (because you HAVE to) andget back to eagle rider. that is about a 300 mile route, and it was awesome, the entire time. mount charleston is underrated...but unreal! best part of my trip.
