Following watching Riding Like a Pro IV, I have been (or should I say, attempting) working on the exercises. I am having problem with: from a stopped position, start with the handlebars turned to the far left position. One of three things happens to me:
1. I successfully make the turn (doesn't occur with great frequency)
2. Upon entering the friction zone, the front wheel will snap to the forward position. Meaning I will start traveling straight ahead. For the life of me, can't understand how this happens. My head is like an owl looking to the rear with head & eyes up.
3. We go down. When entering the friction zone, the bike just drops. Only light pressure to the rear break and NONE to the front. I have become an expert at the technique of raising the bike as demonstrated on the DVD. Thank god for heater hose.
Performing this same exercise to the "right" will work everytime as advertised. For whatever reason, the "left" turn is a son-of-a-*****.
I'd recommed that you don't start with the handlebars turned sharply. Start straight and after moving, turn to the left until you are more comfortable with your ride. Also, are you leaning when you are starting? Don't.

Not leaning. Also tested with my weight shifted to the right, didn't help turning left.
Sounds to me like you may be pushing the left bar forward as you release the clutch. Try to push the right bar forward as you release the clutch into the friction zone.

Great back ground on your signature!
Good point will test tonight. Have you ever attempted this exercise and if so how did it go?
