I went to use my sears mc jack today and it won't pump up. No big deal, I just figured it was low on oil. Added oil and I would pump up but not lower. Messed around a bit with the lowering valve and now it won't raises or lower.
Anyone have any experience with this jack pump?
Take the oil fill plug out of the side of the cylinder, while the Jack is all the way down. Pump the lift pedal slowly several times. If there is air in it, it should purge, and the Jack will start to lift. Try this several times.
To change the oil, you just tip the whole thing over and pour the oil out of the fill hole. Refill with Jack oil to bottom of fill hole and bleed again. These jacks do all kinds of screwy ****. Apparently they are pretty junky. I got mine off craigslist for 35 bucks, not knowing any better at the time. When it quit working I just googled it for info on how to maybe fix it. So far so good. Good luck with yours.
My approximately 30-year old, green Sears floor jack gave out on me last summer.
I was ALMOST done with a brake job on the wife's car and I had lifted the car up and removed 3 of the 4 jack stands but when I attempted to raise if to remove the 4th (and last stand) the cup went up against the frame of the car bit the jack was too-pooped to perform the task!
I tried fresh fluid and bleeding to no avail.
I tossed it in my friends junk pile and bought a new aluminum race jack from HF.
